Bart Drost

The Limburg art collector couple Van St.Fiet maintains a private gallery in Maastricht. In a specially designed basement space, they give artists the space to show new work. They invited Bart Drost to make a presentation of the series 'the golden boys party' and brand new acrylic paintings (fresh paintings), this time without the 'black contour lines' so usual for Drost.

Bart Drost's paintings often resemble colouring pictures: he always starts with the black lines, makes a large drawing with Indian ink or Siberian chalk, and then fills the areas with colour. In this series of 'fresh paintings', however, he abandons this method and completely leaves out the black contour lines.
