45 jubilee KEG - Schijndel - november 2025
Table lamps, wall lamps, candle holders. Made of wood, copper, porcelain, papier-mâché. All little angels. Bart Drost's childhood home was full of them!
More than 60 years ago, in his workshop in Venlo, where he crafted plaster garden gnomes or nativity scenes depending on the season, Mr. Schutte made a rubber mold of an angel's head for his faithful visitor, little Bart. For endless reproduction. It's surprising that these plaster heads have never played a significant role in his work. They've been stored away in an old suitcase for ages.
Drost took a series of photographs of the contents of the suitcase and then copied them one by one. First, on a small scale in grayscale with pencil, later also on a slightly larger scale with colorful crayons. The result is three series of 49 angel heads each. De een is niet de ander.
This project is his contribution to the exhibition "ECHO" 45 Years of KEG".
