For fifty years, the Princessehof Ceramics Museum has been assisted by a club of loyal, ceramics-loving Friends.

The Association of Friends of the Princessehof Ceramics Museum collects leading contemporary ceramics and lends them to the Princessehof. After half a century, the Association has built up an impressive collection. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, and as a thank you for their support, the Princessehof Keramiekmuseum presents the exhibition Golden Friends: 50 years of friendship with the Princessehof Keramiekmuseum from June 22, 2024 to January 5, 2025. This anniversary exhibition shows a selection of the most important and recent acquisitions from the collection of the Friends of the Princessehof Ceramic Museum.

With the help of the friends, the Princessehof purchased a work by Drost from his solo show
The Golden Boys Party , which was shown in Museum Princessehof in 2001, as well as three fist drawings from the series of works that he created under the name 'the story of the endless freedom' in 2007 during a stay at the European Ceramic Work Center.

three fistdrawings - 2007

Who can describe Drosts surprise, his disappointment, his shock (?!) when he - again after seven years - felt clay in his hands and this touch especially caused a feeling of disgust. No intense euphoria, on the contrary. he couldn't do anything with the clay. Get rid of it. Hitting, hitting it was the only appropriate action for this material. He placed sausages and ceramic balls on the oven tray and pounded them with his fist into flat bars. And while hitting with his fist he gave direction to the sausages, connected them together, made shapes. He discovered a new way of drawing, a new form of drawing. After the first firing he applied a red glaze, not with a brush or a brush, but he atomized the glaze and let it descend from a great height onto the biscuit baked shapes. This created a sand grain-like red structure.
