De Nieuwe Gang has evolved from a place for and by young artists into a renowned institution for contemporary visual art that has its own and unique place in the Rijk van Nijmegen. This topicality is not reserved for young people, it is a fact that this is an important motivation for all generations. That is why they like to program right through all generations.
Bart Drost had two solo projects at De Nieuwe Gang: in 1983 he presented 'Ode aan de Betuwe in bloei en andere verhalen', in 1999 he made 'When I was young'.
De Nieuwe Gang is 40 years old! To celebrate this existence, it seems impossible to give attention again to everyone who once exhibited. Nevertheless, the organization wants to make an attempt with a 'salon' exhibition. She invites every former exhibitor we can reach to participate with a current work. With the condensed energy of all these works and De Nieuwe Gang in its valuable function as project space, a total installation is created; a monument to the history and present of De Nieuwe Gang.
