Commission by Van Dalen Schoenen: a multiple in an edition of eighty that was placed in all shop windows of the retail chain as a promotion during the month of December. The male alternately wore three headgear: a Santa Claus miter, a Santa hat, and an end-of-year fire arrow.

The December man pleased the Van Dalen company so much that they commissioned Drost to make a few more multiples for the window. The images on the screen prints on MDF board are derived from Drost's large bitumen paintings.
