"And you? Do you actually make art yourself?"
For the last six years, Bart Drost cleaned up his studio every month and he made this space available to fellow artists. New projects were developped, unexpected partnerships were established or a solo exhibition was simply compiled.
Clearing the studio every month also means an interruption in the continuity of Drost's work as an artist. Drawing, however, has always remained constant. In 2017 this occurs mainly with fat chalk.
From January 1 to December 31, 2017, Bart Drost regularly makes colorful drawings with oil pastels. Sometimes he makes a single drawing every single day, sometimes several drawings in one day, and again for a while none at all. He deliberately chooses to hold the same size and material. The theme is the life of everyday, the subject he chooses are the
things he experiences, loose thoughts and distant memories, dreams and
fantasies.
