Crowns, trees and leaves are frequently recurring elements in the work of Bart Drost. ' When I was young ' is an ode to nature, the growth and the youth.22 bronze Crowns standing each  as a fence around 22 bronze trees on 22 Poplar pedestals. 7 Poplar pedestals with each three hundred hand-shaped leaves of ceramics. An oil painting and a poem fill the pictures to. The exhibition is carried by the sound of the Sea (at the entrance) and the sound of rustling poplars (at the end).

Next

a funny thing...

Bart Drost's drawings and paintings are often populated by boys, princes, boys. And then most uncovered, whith a naked little dig rising.

This presentation would be 'different', Drost thought. So this time no references to willies or pricks, literally as well as figuratively.

The fate decided different: the poplar shells were sawn from freshly chopped poplars. The unheated space of De Gang proved to be an excellent biotope for mushrooms, which steadily striked their head in the bronze crowns ....
